The Doctors take a special interest in obstetrics and provide a full antenatal service with the community midwife. The Midwife’s clinics are held on Thursday at both surgeries. To make an appointment please contact reception.
Should you need advice the midwife can be contacted between 8.30 am and 9.30 am at The Princess Royal Hospital on 01444 441881 Ext. 4414.

The cervical smear programme is run by the Health Authority and when you are due for a smear you will be invited to attend the surgery. If you are aged 25-49 you will be called every 3 years and women aged 50-65 every 5 years. Cervical smear appointments are available with the Practice Nurses. Results are sent directly to patients as well as to the Practice.

Vaccination Information
We are committed to a policy of preventive medicine and therefore encourage all parents to make sure their children are up to date with their vaccinations. You will be invited to attend the surgery when vaccinations are due.
Age 2 months
- Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping cough), Polio and Haemophilus influenza type b (DTaP/IPV/ Hib)
- Pneumococcal (PCV)
Age 3 months
- DTaP/IPV/Hib
- Meningitis C (Men C)
Age 4 months
12 months approx.
- Hib/Men C
- Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
- PCV
3 years 4 mths
12-13 years (for girls only)
- Human Papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) – 3 vaccinations given over 6 months will be administered by school nurses
13-18 years
- Tetanus, Diptheria and Polio (Td/IPV)

Patients registered at the Practice with a chronic disease including Asthma, COPD (Chronic Lung Disease), Diabetes and Chronic Heart Disease are invited to attend an annual review for a full check-up and assessment of their condition. These clinics aim to offer advice and support, and ensure that patients are receiving the maximum benefit from their medication.

These clinics are available each Autumn for patients 65 years and over and those in "at-risk" groups. Details are made available annually on the Latest News page or contact reception to make an appointment.
You may also be offered a vaccination against pneumonia if you are in an "at-risk" group or over 65 years.

These clinics are run by our Practice Nurses who can offer up-to-date and comprehensive information for all travellers.
If you are contemplating a foreign trip please contact the surgery well in advance of your departure date to arrange an appointment as early as possible to allow time for the vaccines to work.
Please note there is a fee for vaccinations and prescriptions that not available on the NHS and payment is made by cash or cheque to Cuckfield Medical Practice at the time of the initial appointment.
The Practice is also a Department of Health designated Yellow Fever Centre for registered and non-registered patients.

Certain minor operations can be carried out at the The Vale Surgery. Your GP will refer you to the clinic if appropriate.

A blood taking service is available every morning at the Practice. These clinics are run by our three phlebotomists.
We also provide an anti-coagulation monitoring clinic for patients who take Warfarin medication. Please ask at reception for Warfarin appointments.

Our Practice Nurse Philippa is a trained Smoking Cessation Advisor and can provide a comprehensive structured programme when you are trying to give up smoking. These clinics are run regularly on a one-to-one basis where she can offer advice and support.

Breast Screening
Breast screening is performed on women from 50-70 years of age, every three years and patients will automatically be invited by the West Sussex Breast Screening Service to attend at the local screening unit. The results are sent directly to the patient and to the Practice. If you have any queries regarding this service please contact them direct on 01903 239757.
Bowel Screening
The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme offers screening every two years to all men and women aged 60 to 69. Patients that are eligible for screening will receive an invitation letter and kit with step-by-step instructions for completing the test at home and sending the samples to the hub laboratory. The test will then be processed and the results letter will be sent to the patient and their GP. For any enquiries, please contact 0800 707 60 60.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
The NHS AAA Screening Programme will invite all men for screening during the year they turn 65. Men over 65 who have not previously been diagnosed with an aneurysm can request a scan by contacting their local programme directly on 01243 831503.
